What Are You Passionate about Essay

My parents encouraged me to go into healthcare, because there is good money to be made in those fields, however I have always had a love for reading. I haven’t always loved to write though. The passion for creating my own works of art came at a later age… the fourth grade. I had a teacher that would give us the craziest writing prompts everyday. It let me open up and get creative with writing.

Passion is an emotion that human beings cannot control, it leads many down paths they never thought they would go down. I loved football as it became a vessel to unleash anger and stress, but that passion for that game came crashing down during sophomore year. That summer continued to have its struggles, but it continued to improve as football season was about to begin and I could not be more ready to start a new season. However, that dream season never came for me as on one of the last days of summer

Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is an ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind body and soul into something as is possible. For as long as I can remember i've always had an innate passion and fondness for and with animals. In nearly all my photos as a child i'm always holding a kitten, cleaning a rabbit cage, holding a newborn goat, or sitting on a horse. My parents joke about how I learned to ride a horse before I learned to walk...it wasnt far off though. I always have known one thing though as that my passion for farming, 4-H, and animals would be apart of my future and career. To fulfill my passion and goals throughout highschool I have always been an active member of 4-H showing horses, dogs, goats, as well as being a member of the Junior Leaders 4-H club, horse judging team, and participating in non-animal projects such as sewing and photography. Through these programs I have met many people who have helped guide me as I have made my future decisions as well as developed many skills I plan to take with me to college.

My desire and passion for helping others is intertwine with my personal and professional life experiences. Growing up in Guatemala, a third world country, helped me become the person I am today. My first twelve years in my native country taught me lessons that changed my perspective and shaped who I am and who I want to be in the future. From a young age, I had this great admiration for nature and in Guatemala I was able to admire it. I remember endless nights looking at the stars and patiently waiting for a shooting star. Nature was my play room. Life in Guatemala was beautiful but it wasn’t easy. It was not until I came to the United States that I begin to realize how much my mother had sheltered me from the violence and poverty that surrounded us. Sadly, my beautiful country is fill with corruption. The rich exploit the poor and laws are created to protect does in power regardless of their wrongdoing. In Guatemala, women are treated unequally because our society has rigid gender roles and has created a culture that takes pride in masculinity and machismo. It was well known in my small village that if a man found a female attractive and wanted her for himself he could “robarte” which translates to “steal you.” My mother and many other women in my family experienced this. My father was a policeman in Guatemala and he was attracted to my mother. My mother, on the other hand, was not looking for any serious relationship because she was only 17 years old. Passion for My ProfessionWhen I started college, I struggled to find something I was truly passionate about. I bounced around from wanting to go into medicine or teaching math to simply progressing in my current job. I enjoyed my civilian job and it paid well, but I did not find myself feeling passionate about the work I was doing. A lot of people are literate in Reading and Writing, however, I am literate in other things such as Guitar, Fencing, Bowling, Metal-Detecting, Reading, Writing, and tons of other things. But I really have a passion for Reading and Writing. When I start writing, I really get into it and I do not want to stop, but sometimes when I do not get into it, I just write a small amount amount and don't really have a passion for what I am writing. But when it is good I put a lot of feeling into it. The same goes for reading, I love to read a book if it fits into my interest, I usually like books with more action and surprising moments. It can be realistic fiction, it does not matter to me. There are always weaknesses to everyone's strengths.

I trudged out the door in utter denial it was Friday afternoon and I was in an awful mood. For 7 years my mother had made it mandatory for me to take piano lessons twice a week. As a child, I adored practicing and the ethereal feeling I felt each time I played was truly unmatched. Although the pieces I played were classical and were no longer an interest of mine my teacher was a jovial young woman named Mrs. May. She enjoyed wearing floral patterned skirts, she had trademark wide-brimmed glasses and her soft, delightful voice always made me smile. Despite Mrs. May’s enthusiasm and encouragement, I didn’t have the same passion for music as I used to. My short attention span wasn’t helping and having to practice while also devoting time to soccer and cross-country meant my free time was practically non-existent. I thought about quitting but I couldn’t gather enough courage to tell my mother. So that being said I continued, lessons generally followed the same pattern unless I had a recital in the near future. In that case, they were demanding and strenuous. That was the case as in 2 weeks I had my largest recital where I would be playing Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven on top of a piece I had written with the help of Mrs. May.
