I have always been a person that must help, it is difficult for me to sit idle and to do work that is meaningless. I left a safe and secure career in retail when I did not find the meaning the profound affect my work had upon another. A year and a half ago I began that journey to help others through starting my role as a therapeutic staff support. I was able to learn many things, and at the ...

At a young age, I was taught to do things for the greater good, my family has always given back whether it is donating food and clothes or adopting a family for Christmas. Growing up I have received assistance because at times my mother and I needed help so I personally know how much of an impact a small act of kindness can have and that is why I decided to join the Bakersfield Police Explorer program, which is community service based volunteer work. Getting into this program required various steps such as entrance testing, background check, and an interview. I wanted to be apart of this program as a way to test the waters of a career in law enforcement, helping out in the community, and to develop as a person.…
I truly love what I do because it provides me the chance to care for my residents in their most vulnerable and personal moments, whether it be their first steps after surgery or their last breaths in this world. This experience has also allowed me to grow in my knowledge and familiarity of the medical culture and environment. For instance, I have seen the importance and benefit of having several professionals, such as doctors, PAs, therapists, and others, working together on one patient to provide the best quality of care. Additionally, I have been volunteering writing resumes and giving practice interviews for disadvantaged individuals, as well as tutoring homeless and foster children. Working with these individuals is beyond doubt an amazing privilege as I am able to aid those who think that they have no place to turn. Whether it is bringing school supplies to a teenager who has been living on the streets or helping a former inmate acquire his first job after his release, I cherish helping those who feel marginalized by society find their way to a better way of
it was none other than Liliyana and her half-sister Roslin who were meant to be introduced to the king upon his arrival that evening. For all their part, neither one of them were less hopeful for the other, helping one another to pick out the perfect dress. Roslin looked pretty in white—if a bit girlish, with her hair down from her plaits—sat on the edge of one of their less-than-plush beds as she brushed the shine back into Liliyana’s freshly washed hair. “You know he’ll pick you, don’t you,…

Essay About Helping Others (pdf)
The Help occurs during the segregation period during the year of 1962 in Jackson, Mississippi. The main character is Aibileen Clark, a 50-year-old African American maid spending most of her life raising white children ever since her teenage years. She works for Elizabeth Leefolt, a wealthy housewife, who is the best friend of the antagonist, Hilly Holbrook. Elizabeth has a child named Mae Mobley whom Aibileen is very close to. Aibileen’s best friend is Minny Jackson; she is a maid who works for Hilly Holbrook and her mother Missy Walters for nearly a decade. Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan is a young, white American woman, seeks a successful writing career after graduating from the University of Mississippi and returns to home, soon to find out her long-time maid, Constantine, supposedly quit working for her family; this was a great mystery for Skeeter because Constantine did not write to Skeeter explaining why she left. Skeeter found out Hilly Holbrook, Elizabeth Leefolt and their friends believe blacks “carry various diseases to the white people”. Hilly drafted a disease

The Joy of Helping Others Essay
For instance, I work in a residence setting that attends to the needs of individuals that experience cognitive difficulties or psychiatric illnesses. While at work I operate social support groups with the intention of aiding in the physical and social needs of our residents. My assistance also extends to accommodating meals, helping with medications and ensuring that daily activities are completed to satisfy individual goals. For instance, in a typical day I work alongside my residents to make sure that they are socializing with others. I do this by helping support their individual needs by establishing a close relationship with them so that they are able to trust the support and guidance that I provide to them. A critical part of my job is that I am meeting the unique needs of my patients. One example that comes to mind when I consider whom I have helped along the way was the time a new patient came to live within the residence and they were having difficulties adjusting to their new environment. I noticed that they spent a lot of time on their own, so I sat and listened to what they had to say, and I offered my support to them so that they were able to voice their uncertainties. I offered the type of help that I thought I would need in a stressful situation. Once the individual opened up about some reservations that they had, we proceeded to paint each others nails and afterwards I was told by one of my coworkers that the resident later came and told them how much that alleviated some of their doubts about the residence and it helped integrate them into their new environment. Once I learned of this it felt really rewarding to know that I had made such a significant impact in someone’s life, even if it was a small gesture. This situation made me aware of how small actions can benefit someone so much, even if we do not realize it. Through experiences like these, it really
